- Walk on any Central Pacific beach here, BUT only after checking the online Tide schedule. Try to avoid the hottest part of the day from 11 am to 2 pm on the beach. Our Sunsets are world famous & start earlier than most, here about a little after 5 pm.
- Visiting the North end of Jaco Beach at low tide enables you to visit the tropical island-like Monkey Beach, & on the way, you’ll see the beautiful lake-like Jaco Estuary. Fantastic pics! Fishing Too!
- Visit the North End of Playa Hermosa, at Low tide. enjoy the tide pools, or beachfront dining at Las Terrazas, or Vida Hermosa or Bowies’ Pt or a few others….

- Go to Jaco Walk, (1st to Banco BAC with your passport for $$ exchange), across is Copy Center, make a copy of your passport, one side picture & details, other side with your entry stamp! Very smart to have with you at all times while your passport is in your hotel room’s safe. And then treat yourself to the many fast food places or gourmet dining options around Jaco Walk, there’s even a kids’ playground, a cool miniature golf, and possibly soon, pickleball courts!

- Visit our dry Carara Rain Forest for great hikes with or without guides, park in their lot! Chk it out!
- Visit the Neo Fauna Rescue Center & Waterfall tour: only 5 minutes north of Jaco offering monkeys & reptile interactions, maybe a sloth! In Pueblo Nuevo.(chk online).
- Take a visit to a tropical island, Isla Tortuga, combined with snorkeling, will be a highlight of your trip! We know the best ones, & you’ll get a discount!
- Take a trip to Manuel Antonio, but read about it first. It’s a whole day of fun! NOW OPEN Mondays TOO! Take your picture with monkeys, by the sign that says Don’t Feed the Monkeys, it’s a must!
- Play golf at the highly rated Los Suenos 18-hole Iguana Golf Course, then eat at the many restaurants around the marina, it’s very impressive, Bakery, Italian, Asian, American, Int’l cuisines!
- Check out Jaco’s Central Park, Johannes Danker, especially on some weekends with arts & crafts & music, sometimes they have rides or parades for holiday crowds!
- Take the kids to the Jaco Public Library, Skateboard Park & REC area, located near the Jaco Bay condos.
- Go to Central America’s only Air-Conditioned movie theatre in a beach town, behind Jaco’s KFC in Plaza Coral
- Have a meaningful close encounter with an iguana, by tossing them cut-up fruits of all types, BUT keep your distance as they really are mini dinosaurs with sharp teeth! Iguanas are fun to watch, but no petting, please!
- Jaco Walk offers a medical lab and clinics, exercise classes, day spa, lots of great restaurants at all prices including Sushi, Seafood, Fusion, Natural, Tipico, Pizza, Ice-Cream, Bakery, Empanadas, Steak house, Churros; and the newest family activity: Miniature Golf!!! - Get a real, ahem, certified massage, lots of great ones are in Jaco, like Acqua, or Aura with spa treatment options.
- Get teeth cleaning or checkup from great dentists in Jaco, (Dr. Alonso’s Crystal Dental is our favorite!)
- Rent a horse by Alex; or ATV all-terrain vehicle, or moto or bicycle, there are lots of options & terrains to visit!
- Los Sueños Marina & Golf Resort. Fantastic sport fishing boats leave here! We know the best! Close by & lotsa fun at Los Sueños Adventures with Ziplines + a Chocolate tour & other fun things too!
- Workout in a Gym, there are at least 6 now in JACO, with various prices, classes and equipment!
- People watch on Jaco’s Main Street (Av Diaz) enjoying great El Barco Gelateria OR Rebels Ice Cream OR $2 Margaritas & tapas at Mono Verde or great shrimp tacos & sports @ Public Hse, or great Bakeries like Artesanal, or the new one below Jerah’s thai food, or Pachi’s Pan or Musmani or other cool outdoor places!
- Check out Jaco’s $6 cheap & tasty local buffets: our fave is “Rustico” (take 2nd entrance into Jaco, 1 mile, park after the curve! Macrobiotica is across the street & is a health food store! or “Soda Garabito” is another good cheapo place, by Oceano Condos, & on Costanera’s Marea Alta or Pura Vida 3.
- Take a Costa Rican cooking class from Jaco
- Try Jerah’s Thai place, bakery or excellent Indian restaurants, or our many Sushi restaurants or mariscarias’ fresh local fish!
- Check out a sports bar: our favorite is now called Locals (former owner Los Amigos) or Gringos’Bar, or Oz or Gallo Pinto, or at least 5 others especially for the well loved La Sele national football team (soccer).
